Jews helped the NAACP when it first started. Some Jews were killed in the US South supporting civil rights. American Jews have been alienated to some extent to how they perceive Israel has become more right wing and how Netanyahu was undermining Reform and Conservative Jews to curry favor with Orthodox Jews, though American Jews did so much for Israel over the decades. A lot of younger Jews are not so crazy about Israel the way their grandparents were raised to feel. Also, not all Jews focus on Israel so much. It’s an assumption that’s made. I mean so many Americans Jews, who have been in the country for generations, focus much more on America and being Americans whereas Trump was treating Jews as if they were Israelis with American passports, which people find anti-Semitic.
